If I put a book on hold, when will it be ready for pick-up?

Answer

The short answer is, that it depends!

If it is a copy of a book on the shelf in a University of Alberta Library in Edmonton, and is being delivered to another University of Alberta Library location in Edmonton, it may be available pretty quickly, maybe even within a day or two.

Delivery of items from Augustana Library and NEOS Libraries will take longer.

If the item is currently checked out, the patron has 7 days to return it before you can get it. Patrons are guaranteed to be able to borrow books for 14 days, so if they only just checked out the item when you placed the hold, it may be up to 14 days.

If you feel like your hold request is taking too long to come, please Ask Us on chat or at one of our service desks, and we can look into where the item is at.
