How do I search for scholarly books?
Answer
Many of the books you will find in the University of Alberta Library collection will be considered scholarly. You can search for books by using "Search the Library" on the library homepage.
Scholarly books typically share a few common characteristics:
- They are written by experts in the field (professors, professionals, researchers, scholars);
- Most often published by an academic press (such as the University of Alberta Press); and
- The author cites their sources within the text, as well as listing references at the end of a chapter or at the end of the book.
