Why isn't my textbook an e-book?

We are limited by what the publisher makes available, and unfortunately, textbook publishers rarely have their books available electronically in a format that can be added to the U of A Library collection. If the textbook is available as an e-book, usually it can only be purchased for personal download (for example, through VitalSource).
