How can I tell if an article is peer reviewed?
Answer
If you found the article in a library database, it may be labeled as a peer-reviewed (or refereed) article, or as a scholarly or academic article, which would usually be peer reviewed.
You can also check whether the journal has a peer review process. The Library subscribes to a database called Ulrich’s International Periodicals Directory, which includes information about journals. Search for the journal title (not the article title) in Ulrich’s and look for the little referee icon next to the title in the search results:
Journals often include some content that is not peer reviewed, like editorials and book reviews. Even if your article comes from a peer reviewed journal, make sure it is categorized as a scholarly, academic, or research article.
