Why do I see an EBSCO error message (unable to validate login credentials) when I try to follow my saved links to articles or books?

Answer

The U of A Library has moved to a new library search system. If you try to follow a previously saved link to a book or an article, you may get an error message from EBSCO that says, "We are unable to validate your login credentials."

The item should still be available, but from a different URL. You can search for the title of the article or book using the new search on the U of A Lbrary homepage.

In the new system, you can save a link to an item in two different ways:

Click on the "Permalink" button in the item record:

Cite + Save section of an item record, with the Permalink option circled

Copy the URL from the address bar in your browser:

You can also save items and searches in the new system when you are logged in to your account:

The top of a search results list, with a "Save Search" button at the top, and a pushpin icon next to the top search result.

Please do not hesitate to ask us for help with the new library search system, and with finding the new links to your items.
