What does this error message mean: "The login process has failed. Please refer to the library for assistance: Sign out from the external authentication system"?
Answer
This message appears when someone tries to sign into My Account or Interlibrary Loan, or attempts to place a hold on a book in the library catalogue, without an active library account in the U of A Library's circulation software.
This could be because the account has expired or hasn't yet been created. Guests of the University are not automatically registered in the Library's circulation software.
You can search the catalogue without an active library account and, if you are entitled to off-campus access to our electronic resources, you will still be able to access online articles.
